The Lakes College have invited us to deliver a workshop on the male reproductive system on 21 July 2016.  That’s Week 2 Term 3 and I know it seems like a long time away but it will be here before you know it.  You know how quickly Term 3 goes.

This workshop is a companion workshop to the female reproductive system one we did there a while ago.  This workshop will include specimens of bovine penis, porcine testis and live semen.

Mr Vivi will be running this one so you will have him all to yourself. Start a list of really hard questions for him now 🙂

You can sign up via the online shop or send a purchase order by email. Just make sure we have it in time to defrost your bits of bob for you.

He’s looking forward to seeing you there.

Backyard PD in Hervey Bay, a whole new approach to workshops

So, we have this crazy idea.

I bet you find that hard to believe?
We are renting a house in Hervey Bay for a week and running a couple of afternoons of workshops.  But we think we can run a kind of Choose Your Own Adventure thing where instead of offering only one workshop we can offer a range of topics to be run concurrently and you choose which one you want to do.  We’ll do it under the mango tree in the backyard at the house.
It’s a bit experimental but we think we can make it work.
We’re trying to find a way to offer more flexibility in a program and not lock people into doing the workshop of our choice or wait for the next opportunity to roll around.  What do you think?  Is it too crazy?

Science Superheroes: goodbye Miss Lily, hello Miss Darcy

goodbye miss lily from dissection connection
goodbye miss lily from dissection connection
goodbye miss lily, hello miss darcy

For the past two years we have had the pleasure of watching Miss Lily come to work with us a couple of afternoons a week after school.  She soon made the place her own and took over the place when we weren’t able to be there.  You may not have known it, but Miss Lily was packing your parts, writing your invoices, decorating your delivery boxes and generally keeping us in good order around The Chop Shop.

I knew she was the one for us when she turned a bovine vagina inside out to see the cervix and announced “You can’t do that with a textbook!”  And she was absolutely right.

But all good things must come to an end and Miss Lily has left us for the bright lights of University and a grown up life.  She’s left us in good hands, though.  Her little sister Miss Darcy has stepped in to Lily’s shoes and taken her sisters place at the table when there are cupcakes on offer.  And we often have cupcakes to deal with.  It’s a tough job, but these girls are totally up to it.

All the best, Miss Lily.  You’ve been a science superhero and I fully expect to see you doing something AMAZING in the future.
